Greetings

Hmm... Where to begin? I'm a laid-back, mellow guy who just moved back to NYC after four years of grad school in Cincinnati. I'm here to expand my social circle, and perhaps meet a special somebody. Even if I don't meet "Miss Right" here, I'm always happy to make new friends.

I have particularly strong interests in architecture and design, urban and transportation issues, progressive politics, music, movies, craft beers, and travel (not necessarily in that order). I also enjoy long walks in the city or on the beach, road trips outside the city, and hiking in the mountains. Above all else, I enjoy time with my friends over a couple of drinks and good conversation.

My favorite people are those who strive to overcome life's challenges with grace and humor, and who embrace their own uniqueness. My least-favorite people are those who were born on the finish line and act as if they ran the marathon.

I'm originally from Cincinnati, but I've lived in a few other places including NYC, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philly, Boston, and Oregon. I've traveled to London and Paris as well as to many places within the US, and I'm always up for exploring someplace new.

I have a strong Anglophile streak, and I realize there's much more to life than merely winning the rat race. I typically mean what I say, I have little patience for pretension or phoniness, and I'm generally oblivious to celebrity gossip and pop culture. I was born without the athletic gene and lean much more "geek" than "jock", and I'm most comfortable around people who are smart, funny, active in their community, and who possess a certain amount of emotional depth. I've never been particularly good at making small talk, but I'm a great listener and I love having in-depth conversations with people I respect and admire. I do much better one-on-one than in large groups, and a tend to prefer a smaller circle of very close friends than a huge circle of friendly acquaintances.
